A Legacy Spanning Three Centuries
In August 1873, a young boy of merely eight years old embarked on a journey that would forever shape the destiny of generations to come. Leaving behind the village of Joonabad near Gazeepoore (Ghazipur), he crossed the vast Indian Ocean by ship, arriving on the shores of Mauritius as an indentured labourer.

For over five decades, he toiled in the sugarcane fields of Mauritius, building a foundation of resilience, dignity, and unwavering determination. His legacy became the bedrock upon which our family has flourished—a testament to the enduring spirit of those who came before us.
His descendants continued this tradition of hard work close to the land. The second generation (born 1887) and third generation (born 1921) also worked as labourers, maintaining deep connections to the earth and carrying forward the values of perseverance and dignity in honest labour.
From these humble beginnings, the Ojoodha family has grown and prospered, contributing to Mauritian society across multiple generations.
"From one brave soul who crossed the ocean at age eight, a family legacy was born— spanning continents, generations, and endless possibilities."
